Different Types of Termites in Orlando, FL
The two primary types of termites you’ll come across in Central Florida: subterranean termites & drywood termites. AAA Plus Exterminating will identify which type you are have, since they may require different treatment methods.
Subterranean termites: Subterranean termites live in both your foundational wood, soil, and any compost piles around your home. They create mud tubes, or highways out of wood and soil, to travel in your home. This termite type generally does more damage than drywood termites do, because of their saw-toothed jaws. Given enough time, subterranean termites can completely collapse a building. Subterranean termite colonies can grow very large, ranging from 100,000 to millions of termites.
Drywood termites: While subterranean termites require contact with soil in order to live, drywood termites can live exclusively in wood. They do not create mud tubes to travel. Drywood termite colonies can readily grow up to 2,500 termites.
